• We Can't Wait to Get Back to Work!

    Vote YES on AB 405

  • Nevada's legislative session ends June 5th.

Time is running out to bring solar jobs back to Nevada.

  • About AB405

After the abrupt elimination of solar net metering in 2015, more than 2,000 solar employees were forced to find solar installation jobs in other states. Since then, the Nevada Public Utilities Commission has said this decision “all but crushed the rooftop solar industry” in Nevada, calling it a “promise better left unkept.”

Now, legislators have a chance to put Nevadans back to work and renew the choice to go solar. By recognizing the benefits rooftop solar brings to the grid and to Nevada’s economy, Assembly Bill 405 would send a signal that Nevada is open for business again.

    AB405 would:

    1. Recognize the benefits that solar provides the grid by fairly compensating homeowners for the clean energy they generate.

    2. Restore confidence in policy stability for Nevada homeowners and businesses by establishing interim and long-term rates.

    3. Send a clear signal to the renewable energy industry that Nevada is open for business.

    4. Restore Nevadans’ ability to choose solar energy.

  • The Solar Opportunity

Individual investments in rooftop solar provide a wide range of benefits to the economy and the grid. By generating power where it’s needed, rooftop solar reduces overall demand, the need for costly investments in new generation capacity, and electrical losses.

Rooftop solar is also a powerful jobs generator. Today, nearly 209,000 Americans work in solar. In 2016, one out of every 50 new jobs in the American economy was in solar. Nevada was one of only six states to see solar jobs decline. By allowing homeowners to choose solar to power their homes, AB405 would support competitive energy choice, innovation, and job creation in Nevada.
